Nigel and Linda McPherson have owned and operated Sportsworld in Te Puke since 2004. Their passion for sports and the great outdoors is evident in their sporting achievements and hobbies.
Both enjoy a day out in The Bay fishing. In store they are well equipped for the fishing enthusiasts and stock a good range of equipment, tackle and bait. Head down to the back of the store and you won’t miss the fishing section, as it’s located beneath the largest mounted Black Marlin I have ever seen. This prize catch was caught in Cairns by a local and weighed in at a whopping 464 kilograms. It’s really worth a trip into Sportsworld Te Puke to appreciate the size of this amazing creature!
Nigel has won the Northland Champion of Champions title for Golf, came runner up in the Auckland Squash Championships and also represented Counties Colts for 2 years in Rugby. Sportsworld Te Puke is just as multifaceted as Nigel when it comes to stock selection holding an incredible variety of product:
• Sports Equipment, Bats, Racquets, Balls
• Clothing and Shoes
• Camping Equipment
• Dive fills, Bottle Hire and Equipment
• Fishing Tackle, Bait and Ice
• Wetsuits all ages
• Hunting Equipment
• Recreational Games
• Swimming Gear and Goggles
• Exercise Equipment for hire or purchase
• Boxing Bags
• Tents and Shelters
• Sleeping bags
• Kayaks and Inflatables
and even a portable toilet…
If you can imagine it, they most likely carry it or can order it for you. While you are downtown, check out their favourite local park Jellicoe Park. A great park for the whole family with room for a game of cricket, facilities for eating and a playground for the kids. Bring a ball and see how good you are at shooting the hoop.
Stop by and visit Nigel, Linda and the team at Sportsworld Te Puke. You are sure to hear a few fishing tales. Take a photo with their in-house Gorilla, Giant Racquet or Enormous Marlin and post it to their Facebook Page and you could win a spot prize! Tag your photo with #EpicTePuke and #SportsworldTePuke.
