Save the date in your calendar, the 2017 Seeka Float Parade and Multicultural Food Festival is happening on Saturday 2 December from 11:00 a.m. and will follow the usual path through Jellicoe Street. Te Puke Events and Promotions Group Ltd (Epic Te Puke) are proud to announce two major sponsors for the parade. Seeka Limited are our new naming sponsor and TECT are a major contributor giving us the much needed financial support to manage and run this community event.
This year marks 50 years since a local legend, Te Puke born Denny Hulme won the Formula One World Championship and 25 years since his passing. We are
celebrating his life and achievements this year with the theme of our parade dedicated to him. All floats will be judged this year within their category based on this theme. The Supreme Award Trophy generously donated by Te Puke Jewellers will once again be awarded to the float that the three judges deem to be “the Epic winner.” In 2016 this was Fairhaven School.
Jellicoe Street will be closed off for the event from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The parade will run from 11:00 a.m –Noon, and the Food Festival from 11am–1.00pm. We will host the parade prize giving outside the post office directly after the parade. We will be placing cones in car parking spaces the night before. This will help us manage health and safety requirements, and clearing the road for the parade on Saturday morning. Shoppers will still have access to Jellicoe street in the morning but will be asked to move their cars out of the area no later than 10:30 a.m.
Entry forms for both the parade and multicultural food festival will be available by middle of October from the Te Puke Library, or firstname.lastname@example.org to receive one by email. Entry for both events will cost $50 which also helps cover the running costs for the event. Epic Te Puke run the float parade and multicultural food festival as a non-profit event giving community groups the opportunity to fundraise and sell food during the parade. Entry fee is waived for members of Epic Te Puke and service groups.
We always need lot of help to put on the town parade so if you are able to lend a hand on the day to volunteer please email email@example.com
